Mountain View Convalescent Hospital consists of two buildings separated by a pleasant outdoor patio. The facility is situated on a quiet residential street. Four cement benches surround a large fountain in the outdoor sanctuary, providing the perfect spot to observe the many types of birds that feel at home here. This spacious and calming area, which alternates grass and cement, also hosts a picnic table. Grass, palm trees and shrubs line the walkway leading to the facility’s entrance. Double glass doors open to the lobby, where a receptionist receives visitors from behind glass. Mismatched furnishings and a large plastic plant result in a shabby, eclectic space. The large dining room was in the midst of a remodel on our visit, and it had square tables seating four residents at each. Off the dining room is an inviting living area with a fireplace and library. The newly refurbished physical and occupational therapy room boasts sparkling white tile floors, new equipment and a separate working space for the therapist. A twin bed is in place as well as a mock grocery store with shopping bags set up in one corner of the room&#8212both are intended for residents to practice the activities of daily living.
