Welcome to Jefferson Center! Life in Sarasota can be as sophisticated as you make it. Beautiful white sand beaches skirt the Gulf of Mexico. Situated one block from Sarasota Bay and nine blocks north of Main Street, Jefferson Center residents can enjoy a variety of Cultural facilities including theater, music, art and shopping, many within walking distance.
Jefferson Center’s mission is to provide a caring housing community for persons 62 and older, with low to moderate income.
Jefferson Center provides 209 efficiency and one bedroom apartments for seniors of all races, religions, national origin and sexual orientation. It was established in 1968 under the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Section 202 guidelines. Over 200 residents enjoy reasonable rentals.
A well stocked library, lounge, recreation room, wide patios and a second-floor screened patio add to the community activities organized by the Residents Council. A laundromat and beauty salon are conveniently located on the premises. A 14-passenger bus takes residents shopping weekly.
A professional Administrator, attentive office and maintenance staff provides quick response for resident needs. A Social Service Coordinator is on staff to orient new residents and be a resource for community services.
Jefferson Center, Inc. is a 501 C (3) not-for-profit organization with policies established by a volunteer Board of Trustees. A Jefferson Center Foundation, Inc. accepts contributions to enhance the quality of life of the residents.
