What is Assisted Living?
The Assisted Living Federation Association
of America defines it as "a special combination of housing, personalized
assistance, supportive services and health care, designed to respond to the
individual needs of those who need help with activities of daily living." Activities such as bathing, dressing, meals, medications and exercise.
Is Heron's Run a nursing home?
Heron's Run is an alternative to
institutional nursing home care. It is designed for people who desire the peace
of mind for health care services provided by a certified and/ or licensed wellness
staff, in a comfortable, apartment-like setting.
How is Heron's Run different from
other settings that offer care for seniors?
At Heron's Run, the resident is in
control. With a 24-hour wellness staff to provide care and assistance, Heron's
Run gives residents the opportunity to enjoy a secure and worry-free lifestyle.
Our emphasis on individuality extends
to our accommodations as well. Resident choose from a variety of suite plans,
each with a full private bath, mini kitchen and a comfortable living and sleeping
area. Residents furnish their suite with their own furniture and decor items,
we can even help hang favorite family pictures and mementos. Furniture rentals
can be arranged for those who wish for respite stays.
What services are included in
the basic monthly fee?
Three meals a day and snacks as desired,
home-cooked by our staff and service in the dining room; all utilities (except
telephone service); cable TV; weekly housekeeping and laundry services; social
activities and outings; and 24-hour assistance provided by a licensed and/ or
certified staff. Additional services include: on premises beauty and barbershop
and specialized pharmaceutical services. We are happy to assist our residents
with all medical appointments and coordinate means of transportation accordingly.
What additional assistance is
included in the monthly fee?
Additional, supportive services are
provided according to the individual needs and desires of our residents. Help
with dressing and bathing are typical services. In addition, medication can
be monitored and special diets are accommodated.
What if more care is needed?
Our program is built on the unique
concept of "aging in place." Heron's Run works in conjunction with
outside community-based service organizations, such as home health agencies
and private companions as needed. We are located on the premises with a licensed
long-term care facility, as well as an extensive rehabilitation department (i.e.
physical, occupational and speech therapies), for both inpatient and outpatient
use.
What if there is an emergency?
24-hour licensed and/ or certified
wellness staff responds immediately to your emergency needs. Family and medical
providers are notified accordingly.
How do costs at Heron's Run compare
with other senior health care and living alternatives?
Because our focus is on quality of
life, Heron's Run has invested in lifestyle amenities and features not found
in more institutional settings. Costs at Heron's Run are significantly lower
than those associated with traditional long term care facilities. Compared with
other assisted living alternatives, costs at Heron's Run reflect an emphasis
on high quality health care provided within a spacious home-like environment.
