The Harbor, a certified Alzheimer's Assisted Living, allows Buckner staff to care for residents who suffer from Alzheimer's or other types of memory impairment illnesses. We have created a protected, simple and comfortable environment to minimize confusion and enable residents to live safely.

Our specially trained staff is sensitive to the unique needs of memory-impaired individuals. We focus on staying up-to-date on the latest developments in treatment and care and helping residents maintain self-respect and dignity. Our dietitian ensures that balanced meals are provided, which can be adapted for individual needs, as necessary.

At Buckner Villas, we recognize the difficulties families face when a loved one suffers from a memory-impairment. We strive to create a warm and caring home for these individuals where family members are welcome. We believe a meaningful life is possible for everyone.

At the Campbell Community Center, Buckner Villas provides personalized nursing services coordinated by a Director of Nurses under the direction of the resident's personal physician. Licensed nurses are on duty 24-hours a day. All private rooms with a full private bath are spacious and we offer a variety of enriching activities and social events to satisfy everyone.

A registered dietitian advises on menu planning and meal preparation. Additional services such as physical, occupational and speech therapy and social services are available to meet the full range of resident needs.

The outstanding care provided at Buckner Villas is common knowledge with the Austin community. This is due in part to the capable, caring staff and the Villas' Medical Director, Dr. Peggy Russell. Serving Buckner Villas since 1991, Dr. Russell's leadership and geriatric expertise have created a continuity of wonderful care year after year. Her involvement in numerous medical organizations and as a lecturer on long term care issues mirrors her knowledge and compassion of caring for older adults.

Independent Living residents enjoy their Garden Home living. These apartments provide privacy and independence, while still giving residents the peace of mind of community living. Each garden home has 1,090 square feet of living space, in addition to a fenced in patio and central lobby. Each Garden Home has two bedrooms, a grand living area, fully equipped kitchen, one and half baths, walk-in closets and abundant storage space. Some of the arrangements have their own personal laundry rooms while others provide laundry facilities within the complex.

Housing maintenance, grounds keeping service, water, gas (if applicable), and garbage pick-up are provided by Buckner Villas. Window blinds are furnished in all arrangements and most appliances are provided. Other benefits include weekly housekeeping, scheduled transportation and covered parking.
