Care Types: Independent Living, Low Income-Affordable

Famas Nu Way Living A supervised living program for clients who require 24-hour assistance and care. Independent Living, Inc. facilities include 2 group homes—a male and a female home, each with the capacity to serve nine residents and an Apartment Building with single units to serve 5 clients. The ILI Group Homes are the only residential facilities for individuals with developmental disabilities in Boone County. Established in 1985, the residential program offers adults with developmental disabilities the opportunity to live in a group home with 24 hour supervised assistance and care. Group Home clients have an individual bedroom, and share a bathroom with one other resident. Common living areas include a large kitchen, dining room, living room, laundry room, and back yard with patio. Activities such as volleyball, basketball, board games, singing, dancing, and going to the movies, are offered to the clients to promote socialization and maximize independence. Every group home resident receives assistance through a specialized Plan of Care. The Plan of Care is developed to help residents achieve independence by identifying the Self-Care, Socialization, and Adaptive skills they need to thrive in the community. The residential staff members assist the clients in achieving goals determined in the Plan of Care. For example, a Plan of Care may indicate the client needs staff to assist them with such tasks as laundry, grooming, housekeeping, money management, shopping and meal preparation.
